Arts, Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability
Two related projects, using the Fourth Arts Block (Manhattan) as a test bed site, that will:
· Identify ways to lower fixed costs for participating arts organizations through energy efficiencies, reuse, recycling and reduction of waste
· Create economies of scale through partnerships and collaborations that will allow small to mid-sized non-profits an affordable way to green their operations and their events
· Create a Green Map of the cultural sector that both showcases progress and expedites it, extending the understanding of applied sustainability beyond the model block and into the community
· Participate in a salon of industry stakeholders dedicated to: exploring incentives for renewable energy conversions in New York; and creating the legal and financial mechanisms that would allow collectives of small to mid-sized non-profits to convert to renewable energy sources together
